Living with a Felony Conviction

A felony offense, no matter what the actual crime was, carries extremely heavy punishment and sentencing if ultimately convicted. Not only will you have to deal with the short-term consequences of a possible jail sentence and hefty fines, you will also have a felony conviction that will be on your permanent criminal record. As a convicted felon, your ability to live life the way you may have in the past will be stifled.

Of the many debilitating consequences of a felony conviction, some of the most apparent are:

  • Ineligibility to apply for certain jobs
  • Loss of professional licenses
  • Inability to vote in public elections
  • Ineligible to hold public office
  • Sex Offender Registry (for sexual felonies)

With these issues, it should be your prerogative to do everything in your power to fight the charges and keep the freedom that you have enjoyed before being charged. It is of the utmost importance to hire a qualified criminal defense attorney who is well versed in felony charges within the state of Pennsylvania. With competent legal counsel, you will be able to argue you case in the most effective manner and give yourself a good chance to get the charges reduced, or even dismissed.
